Everything You Need To Know About The ‘Call Of Duty: World War 2’ PC Beta

The Call of Duty: World War 2 beta on PC is almost upon us. Sledgehammer Games has already offered up betas on PS4 and Xbox One, and now it’s time for PC gamers to get their hands on the new historical shooter.

The console betas were met with something of a mixed reaction from gamers, with many complaining that the maps were overly confined and not as well-made as Sledgehammer’s last game, Advanced Warfare. At the same time, gamers praised the exciting new War Mode.

Much of the same content will be available to PC gamers during this weekend’s beta. Here’s everything you need to know to get playing.

Is this beta available to everyone?

Yes. Unlike the console betas, the PC is an open beta available to anyone with a PC that can run the game (see specs below.)

Where can I download the beta?

You can go to the game’s Steam page (here) to begin downloading the beta right now.

When does the beta start and end?

The beta runs from Friday September 29th until Monday October 2nd. The exact start and end times are unknown at the moment, but it’s likely to be 10 am PST both days. These betas sometimes start early so pay attention to the Sledgehammer Games Twitter account and the Charlie Intel Twitter account.

What are the minimum PC specs?

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit or later

CPU: Intel® Core™ i3 3225 or equivalent

RAM: 8 GB RAM

HDD: 25 GB HD space

Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660 @ 2 GB / GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 @ 2GB

DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

What are the recommended PC specs?

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-2400 / AMD Ryzen R5 1600X

RAM: 12 GB RAM

HDD: 25 GB HD space

Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 / GTX 1060 @ 6GB or AMD Radeon™ R9 390 / AMD RX 580

DirectX: Version 11.0 compatible video card or equivalent

Network: Broadband Internet connection

Sound Card: DirectX Compatible

What PC-specific features will be available during the beta?

  • Native 4K Support
  • Framerate Cap Slider (up to 250FPS)
  • FOV Resizing
  • Keyboard/Mouse Fully Re-mappable
  • Controller Support
  • G-Sync Monitor Support
  • Ultra-Wide Monitor Support
  • High-resolution Mouse Support
  • Advanced Video Settings

What modes will be available during the beta?

  • Team Deathmatch
  • Domination
  • Hardpoint
  • Kill Confirmed

There will also be the new War Mode, the most unique new addition to Call of Duty multiplayer in years. It’s my favorite part about the game so far.

What maps will be available during the beta?

  • Pointe du Hoc
  • Ardennes Forest
  • Gibraltar
  • Aachen

Sledgehammer Games is making changes to some of these maps based on beta feedback from the console beta, so it should be interesting to see what’s new and different.

Divisions and Progression

Five Divisions (basically loadouts) will be available during the beta: Infantry, Expeditionary, Airborne, Armored, and Mountain Division.

Players will start at Level 1 and progress to Level 35. None of this will carry over to the main release, however you’ll be able to unlock lots of weapons and other goodies on your way to the level cap.

What isn’t in the beta?

Sledgehammer says there will be no aim assist in the beta, which is fine since this is a mouse and keyboard affair. They also list a few other features that won’t be live until launch:

HDR Support – We are working to support HDR for launch.
Multi-Monitor Support – Not included in the Beta, but will be ready for launch.
Headquarters –This is an all-new social experience coming to PC players at launch.
Supply Drops, and Loot – These customization features will not be included in the Beta.

When does the full game launch?

Call of Duty: World War 2 lands on November 3rd on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Have fun during the beta! Let me know what you think of the game.
